January 2017 Lecce
I feel very powerful and fulfill with positive energy those days. First days ofresideny Theatrum Mundi has passed, so many different voices, the ayes, bodies and un known languages. Is like coming back home to unknown family- I see we are all here for similar reasons and we have similar desires and there is a lot of adventures to discover together.

Today Fabio asked what is our theatre tradition. I keep asking my self and seems the answer is so clear but so hard to take it out in words. The word tradition makes me think immediately of the place i come from, but I have no personal feelings towards theatre and tradition from my country. I started to make research on performing arts that I like from my country, and I was happy to discover the forgotten artist Janis Pirvics. He was a famous dancer, actor, mime and clown in soviet period, developed his own style and started new movement of step dance in Latvia. Unfortunately he had many troubles with soviet regime and after his death in 1993 there is very little information about him. There are some videos still available of him performing and it immediately opened in me many questions about this artist, his style and how comes, that I never heard about him before.

So what is my personal tradition then?
I belong to the theatre where is always a dialog between people-both the artists and the spectators.
